If your back is injured then you can expect to have back pain for some time afterward; finding a back pain relief remedy is probably important to you and whilst there isn’t a cure as yet, some treatments can help sufferers. Although some medication may be effective and bring pain relief, it doesn’t really help with the underlying problem of the condition causing the distress. Many people with spinal problems become addicted to the medication that relieves the back pain but this should really be the responsibility of a doctor.

The reason back problems are so common is because it is so easy to injure the spine; poor posture can also result in damage to the back and can happen when a person is quite young. Of course the most common way to injure your spine is by lifting heavy weights or lifting them incorrectly. More recently people are willing to try natural back pain relief treatments to stop their reliance on other types of medication.

An easy, inexpensive method to treat pain and bring relief is stretching; it actually relaxes the back muscles which can become knotted and tight, causing discomfort. Massaging the feet in certain areas (reflexology) can bring relief in a number of conditions; it works very well in relieving back pain. Relaxing muscles and increasing the effectiveness of the circulatory system are two other reasons to use reflexology.

The Chinese medical art of acupuncture can also be used to help bring back pain relief, something which has only been recognized a short while in the West. Followers of traditional Chinese medicine are of the belief that every person has an inner energy force (chi) that reflects of our state of health, mental and physical. By using thin needles placed into the body at specific points, they can free this trapped (unhealthy) energy. Many sufferers swear by the use of acupuncture and results from many tests often back this claim; indications are the patient does receive pain relief by using this method.

The Chinese discipline of tai chi has also provided relief as it uses yoga like principles. It is far easier and much slower so there is less likelihood of further damage being caused. It focuses on breath control and is very relaxing owing to its gentle nature. It is possible for anyone to participate irrespective of age. In addition to these methods to natural back pain relief, exercise can also help to relieve back pain; it would be a shame to forget the benefits that exercise can provide generally.
